 Hiking Gear

Most people love the idea of hiking, but many are intimidated by it. Hikers have a reputation for being fit and athletic which could be off putting if you're not an active person or don't own much gear. It's really easy to get started though! Just bring a few essentials and you'll be on your way. Hiking is a good activity for beginners because it's an easy sport to learn the basics of, but also offers challenges as you become more experienced.

Hiking is a great outdoor activity for people of all ages and abilities. Hikers experience the beauty of nature as they travel through trails, mountains, and forests. Hiking can also be a challenging physical activity that strengthens your heart and lungs.  Hiking is a great way to exercise for people who are not big fans of traditional gym workouts. Hikers can burn up to 600 calories per hour, depending on the difficulty of their trail and how fast they travel through it.

Hikes range from easy to hard so you can find something at your level. Hiking is a sport that anyone of any age or fitness level could enjoy!

The first step in hiking is getting the right hiking gear. If this is your first time hiking many outdoor stores like ours have basic starter equipment as well as more advanced gear. Hiking can be very strenuous and you’ll want to make sure your feet are protected so the right hiking shoes or boots is key. Hikes range greatly in difficulty, which means it's important to have the proper gear before hitting the trails. It will also help prevent injuries like blisters and sprained ankles. Hikers should also bring water (and snacks) with them to keep hydrated during their hike. Hiking in the summer can be hot, which means you’ll want a hat and sunscreen too!

Picking the Right Trail for You

It can be difficult to figure out which is the best hiking trail for you. Whether it's a leisurely walk with your family or an intense hike with friends, knowing what type of terrain and length is ideal for you will help make the experience more enjoyable . Hiking trails range from easy to hard, which means there is something suitable for almost everyone. If you're new to hiking try small and quick hikes in the beginning so that you can ease into it.

Hikes also vary greatly in length depending on how much time you have available or what type of experience you want. Some people take their time and go a few miles to enjoy the scenery, while others like to go for distance. If you're new to hiking it's best not to try too many trails at once so that you can get used to your hiking gear.

Once you have the right gear and know what type of hike to do, it's time to plan your trip! You can find hiking trails all over the United States. National Parks are great places for new hikers because they typically offer well-maintained trails with relatively flat terrain.

A side note that but vital is checking your surroundings even if you're well too familiar with the trail you're on, It can be easy to get caught up in the beauty of a hike but it's important not to let yourself become lost. Always make sure you know where you are and what route will take you back to civilization . It's also really helpful if someone knows exactly where you're going! If hiking alone, let a friend or family member know where you're going and how long the hike will take. If hiking with anyone, communicate throughout your journey so that everyone knows what's happening at all times.

 Be Environmentally Conscious

When hiking, it's important to be environmentally conscious and leave no trace. Pack out whatever you pack in! This means anything that comes into contact with the hike should go back home with you at the end of your trek . Be sure not to litter or disturb any wildlife along the way as well. If there is a trail guide for your trip, follow their rules for the hike. The last thing you want is to get kicked off your favorite trail

Hiking can be a little intimidating at first because it's not always clear how much work goes into planning and preparing, but once you have all of these steps down hiking becomes really easy. Hikers typically feel exhilarated after completing a trail because it is a great workout and you can see beautiful views but what's more important than enjoying these views is maintaining them, for you and any fellow hikers!
